Naeem stellar rise continues

20th April, 2015

Four years ago, Mohammed Naeem was described by some sports pundits as the next young talent to storm Ghana Football, having scored 11 goals in 5 matches at the Milo U-13 championship, featuring against the likes of Senegal, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa.

This time last year, he was still to make his first start for Tamale Utrecht Football Academy Division One side after former coach, Mumuni Gamel pouched him.

Since taking over, coach Baba Nuhu Mallam have transformed the 17 year old from an academy star to a top scorer for TUFA currently in the ongoing GB Bank Division One League with four goals as a substitute. Naeen is yet to start a game for TUFA this season but has already shown signs he can be relied on when given the opportunity.

The meteoric rise of the 17-year-old Naeem shows no sign of burning out, with the striker the beneficiary of the decision of head coach Mallam to include him for the trip to Dormaa as they bid to qualify to the next stage of the GFA Elite Cup competition against premier league side Aduana Stars.

TUFA goes into the game on the back of strings of draws against Amajande and RTU in the GN Bank DOL, but would need to defend the 1 goal lead into the second leg.

Mohammed Naeem, who scored the only goal in the first leg last month, was also on target at the weekend as TUFA drew 1-1 with city rivals RTU at the Tamale Sports Stadium, and head coach Baba Nuhum Mallam is optimistic, his exploits will be crucial for the team this season.
