TUFA READY FOR START OF SEASON, SAYS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

30th January, 2015.

The Technical Director of Tamale Utrecht Football Academy, Baba Nuhu Malam saysthat his team is totally prepared to face any side in the league which is yet to kick off.

The commencement of the 2014/15 Division One League has been delayed due to a court case between King Faisal and the Ghana Football Association, which has affected the calendar of the Division One League Board

According to Mallam “The sudden delay in the start of the league is a worrying factor for not just Utrecht but all the teams in the league.

The GFA in collaboration with organizers of the DOL agreed to a change in the format of the league which will now see teams play in a league system. Now teams from Zone 1A and Zone 1B will merge, meaning 16 teams will battle for one slot at the end of the competition in the newly created three zones.

“If you prepare well, you play well. We started two and half months ago – here in Tamale. We have prepared well. I believe that the team is ready for the league” said Mallam.

Touching on the caliber of players in his set-up, Mallam admitted that the blend of experience and youthfulness would bring results to the team, although Tamale Utrecht has a formidable bench.

Tamale Utrecht have been the busiest in the transfer market this season bring in the likes of Mohammed Fataw, formally of RTU and Asante Kotoko, Bright Aban and Micheal Japaa from Guan United, Sakara Salim from RTU and resigning Amos Achampong, and Mallam believes the promotion of five players from the Academy to the division one is clear the Academy is growing.
