TUFA CEO ABDULAI ALHASSAN WANTS UTRECHT CHARACTER AFTER RTU DRAW
24th February, 2014
The CEO of Tamale Utrecht Football Academy, Abdulai Alhassan[ Abu Imoro] says his side face a test of character to salvage their qualification hopes.
A 2-2 draw at league leaders RTU on Sunday left Utrecht five points behind The Pride of the North in the race for promotional playoffs places.
Abu, who came on as a second half substitute to charge his side to salvage a point at the Tamale sports stadium, said: "[The gap] looks big. It's a real blow to us.
"It's the first major setback I've had and we're going to need to be spirited to show we can bounce back."
"We just have to concentrate on winning our games," he said.
"We can't rely on other people to lose all their games and us qualify for the middle league, because that's not going to happen."
"I thought we were poor in the first half," he said. "We saw an improvement after half-time”
"We created clear-cut chances after that, but if you don't score you don't win football matches.
"The second half was more like what we know we can do, but we are bitterly disappointed. We have to tighten up our entire performance. We've got two home games where we have to bounce back - we have to see if we have the character to do that."he told tufaghanafc.com.
Utrecht travel to Bolga on Sunday looking to bounce back to winning ways in order to ensure their dream of premier league football next season.
