TAMALE UTRECHT DIVISION ONE MIDFIELDER ADAMS BAIDOU FIGHTING TO IMPRESS MANAGER MUMUNI GAMEL FOLLOWING TESTING TIME

12th Feruary,2014.

TUFA division one midfielder, Adam Boidou has admitted that he is fighting for his future at the Academy Complex and battling to convince Mumuni Gamel of his worth to the team.

The Accra born , a buy from Bazooka of Wa last season, endured another setback in his efforts to win over thenewUtrecht  manager by being substituted at half-time for “tactical reasons” during the 1-0 defeat against Galaxy FC last week.

He has made just four appearances for Utrecht this season and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes under Gamel. Despite his popularity among  his colleagues and the  confidence imposed on him by some management members of TUFA, Adams admits that his withdrawal against Galaxy FC has underlined the challenge he now faces to remain at the TUFA Complex.

“I have to take this like some kind of message [from the manager],” he told tufaghanafc.com“I need to improve more and more, or I cannot survive at this club. I have to take this in a positive way and keep trying to do my best.

“I wasn’t involved that much [against Galaxy] and I didn’t touch the ball enough but I was trying to be patient, so I didn’t feel that bad at half-time. I thought I would have been able to find some space to create the chances in the second half, so in that sense I was disappointed to have been substituted.”

Gamel has insisted that Adams’ delayed start to the season, caused by playing time and luck of confidence, has made it difficult for the player to stake a claim in his team, but the coach has also stressed the need for the player to overcome competition for his place.

There’s a lot of competition here,” the United manager said. “What we want is the competition now to push each other on to give performances and improve.”

Utrecht is due to face Bazooka FC on Sunday and Adams is expected to cement a place in midfield with coach Gamel set to field his strongest possible team at the Academy field.

Defender Ibrahim Fuseini[Nyaya] and captain Vincent Die will return to the starting line-up after serving their suspensions, while Salifu Nuhu is fit to reclaim his place up front after a dismal performance against Galaxy FC.
