TAMALE UTRECHT SET ASIDE ALLSTARS IN A FRIENDLY
15 March, 2013
Former Toende Attacker Abdulai Ahmed in full control for TUFA
Tamale Utrecht division one side today won 3-1 over Tamale Allstars in a friendly match played at the Kasalgu Complex. The Kasalans got their first win in pre-second round preparations in a first half blitz that featured new signings for the Kasalgu base side.
Former RTU Player Sumaila Nyaya equalised for TUFA 5 minutes after the visitors had taken the lead 8 minutes into the game. Nyaya had another opportunity to double his account but his shot at goal was blocked by Allstars goalkeeper. Thehosts would not be denied a second goal for much longer with former Unity FC Striker Alhassan Haruna connecting powerfully with his head 10 minutes later.
Tamale Utrecht new midfield enforcer Amos Acheampong had an opportunity in the area after leaving off his marker but his final delivery missed the post narrowly. The Kasalans need not have worried, though, as their dominant play did earn them a third goal before half-time as Yussif Abdul Basit fired home from close range.
Coach Shilla Alhassan changed his entire squad after the break, introducing a couple of new players including former RTU players Gafaru Abdulai, Baba Kulong and Mutala Mohammed. TUFA continued their dominance in the game and could have stretched their lead but poor finishing in front of goal.
Tamale Utrecht Football Academy will now play Dynamos FC on Tuesday at the Kasalgu complex before leaving for Wa on Saturday to begin the second round of the division one league.
