VINCENT DEYI STRIKE IN TUFA WIN AND SEES RED
10 February, 2013
Vincent Deyi turning away from a defender
Tamale Utrecht Football Academy division one captain Vincent Deyi scored from a free kick at 30 yards to restore the Kasalan league ambitions in a 1-0 win away to Galaxy FC at the Tamale stadium annex on Saturday.
The Kasalans were quick to put behind the 2-0 defeat at home to Guan United last weekend and took charge of the game in its early stages. TUFA midfield enforcer Yussif Abdul Basit exerted his influence in midfield and was fouled on the left side of attack from 30 yards in the 6thminute as Vincent Deyi prepared himself for a ferocious strike that rattled the goal net in the 7thminute.
The match was characterised by tense moments and anxiety reminiscent of duels between the two sides as three red cards were recorded on the day.
Vincent Deyi got sent off for attacking his opponent from behind whilst TUFA on-loan goalkeeper to Galaxy FC, Sulemana Firdaus got sent off after bringing down Adam Abdul Basit just outside the penalty area from a goal scoring opportunity . Galaxy again lost a player after a second caution in the game.
Tamale Utrecht was tactical in defence and contained the opponent threats at goal and also created scoring opportunities on the counters but was wasteful at goal. The visitors had a fine opportunity to increase their tally on the 48thminute after Iddrisu Osaman shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Striker Adam Basit also rounded the goalkeeper but failed to direct his shot at goal in the 80thminute.
Galaxy FC raided the TUFA goal area to grab a much needed equaliser in injury time, but the TUFA defence remained resolute until referee Ayoo Luk brought proceedings to an end.
