TUFA TAMES JUVENTUS IN YEJI
31 January, 2013
Tamale Utrecht Football Academy secured an important point in Yeji on Wednesday in their match day of three week fixtures in the polytank Division One League.
Tactical changes adopted for the match paid off when Offensive midfielder Iddrisu Osman scored from an unusual role as a striker in the match and also Najimudeen Haruna and robust defender Adam Basit returning to action after long absence in the TUFA midfield.
Osman connected home on the 27thminute with his head from a Vincent Deyi corner kick.
The strong midfield enforcer who caught the attention of former Kototko coach Malik Jabir had another opportunity to add to his tally with only the goal keeper to beat missed the post narrowly to end the first half.
Juventus made changes to their team but maintained confidence in former RTU striker Nasiru Gani who was virtually played out by Wadudu Fuseini. The veteran striker however had his day had when he connected pass that deflected into the net for the equaliser.
The Kasalans lost the fight in midfield after influencial midfielder Alidu Yakubu was red carded in the game from a second bookable offence. The TUFA defence remained resolute and pushed the threat of their host at bay until Goaso base Referee Desmond Sekeyre brought proceedings to a close.
