MUBARIK ‘MESSI’ DAZZLES AGAIN AS TUFA SHARE SPOILS WITH LIBERTY

Tamale Utrecht Football Academy today played one of their best games in the pre-season rallying back from a goal down to split honours with Division two side Liberty Babies as intelligent attacker, Mubarik Messi dazzled again.

The two sides played an exciting game to thrill a handful of supporters at the academy complex. Tamale Utrecht had better exchanges in the game pinning their opponents to their half but was missing narrowly in the final deliveries.

Liberty took the lead from a free kick that beat goalkeeper Wahab Danladi in post just on the stroke of half time. The Kasalan attacking pair of Issahaku A. Kadiri and Hamza Basit was lousy in their delivery as they could have powered their side to a three goal lead before the interval.

It was therefore not surprising that, Head Coach Osman Rashid pulled out the striking pair a minute into the second half for Adam A. Basit and Baba Mubarak respectively. Struggling midfielder Yakubu Alidu was also sacrificed for Hamdan Yakubu and the heat then turned on Liberty with Mubarak proving very difficult to handle by his markers. He became the centre for spectatorship in the match proving his ingenuity.

The gifted left footed player scavenged the visitor’s goal area drawing every liberty player to defend in their half but had his attempts at goal foiled. Mubarak was close to scoring in the 52^nd minute after hitting the woodwork from his head. Osman Iddrisu was also just unlucky after his kick was directed wide inside the 6 yard in the 60^th minute.

With 10 minutes left to be played, Mubarik dribbled through the Liberty defence and laid a pass on the foot of Adam A. Basit who without any hesitation rocketed the ball into the net to draw TUFA level in the game.

‘Today’s game exposed the quality of materials we have on the bench and it is heart warming for the technical team, because you have options to always vary your tactics to achieve results when under difficult situations’. Coach Rashid said.
