22 December, 2012

The preliminary round of the FA Cup competition for division two clubs finally got underway at all centres in the country this weekend with Tamale Liberty Babies and Dynamos FC sailing through in their respective ties.

Tamale Liberty Babies won in a penalty shootout in a local derby that ended goalless against Tamale Allstars at the Kaladan Park on Saturday.

The scientific soccer lads won 6-5 on penalties after both sides had converted their next kicks with the score at 4-4 in the first shootout.

Liberty Babies will now wait for their next opponents in the cup match when the draw of the round of 64 is held.

Meanwhile Dynamos FC on Saturday stood undaunted of their chances after they equalised late in their game to a 1-1 score against Suncity FC at the Coronation Park to push the game into penalty shootout. The visitors then silenced the home crowd after converting their last kick in the penalty shootout to win 4-3 to book a place in the next round of the competition.
