DISAPPOINTING TAMALE UTRECHT SLIP IN FRIENDLY

Division two side Victory FC, played a tactical game to record their first ever win against Tamale Utrecht division one side in a club friendly on Monday. The less fancied Victory FC capitalised on a defensive error to punish the host by scoring the only goal of the match in the 70th minute.

Tamale Utrecht was a fiasco in attack, as the lead marksman Hamza Basit struggled throughout the first half. The three attackers Hamza Basit, Vincent Deyi and Adam Abdul Basit lost coordination and were erratic in their shots at goal much to the relief of the visitors.

Hanif Donkor was not better as a replacement for Hamza Basit with the former failing to impose himself into the game and finding it difficult to make surging runs into the opponent area.

A large number of Supporters of Tamale Utrecht mainly students of the Tamale secondary school could not contend with the disappointing performance of the team they had come to support.

‘Though very disappointing it was a good test for the team as it revealed the problems in attack’ Technical director Jawhari Baba Duah disclosed.

‘Our performance in midfield and defence was better, there is the need however to reposition our self in readiness for the 2012 / 2013 season’.

The Technical Director however showered praise on youngster Alidu Yakubu for his depth of skill and control in the game.

Tamale Utrecht will next play host to Gangdu Stars at the same venue on Friday.
