WA ALLSTARS STRIKE LATE TO SMASH TUFA HOME INVISIBILITY

24 September, 2012

The home invincibility of Tamale Utrecht Football Academy Division One side was today broken as Wa Allstars snatched a late 2-1 win at the Kasalgu complex over their host.

The friendly encounter that appeared highly tactical saw the blues dominate proceedings in the game and registered their first goal after a Dennis Osei kick was deflected into the net in the 13thminute.

Wa Allstars took advantage of the mix up in the TUFA midfield and dominated possession but wasted chances upfront. The Kasalans also came close to scoring with Iddrisu Osman and Basit Hamza struggling in the process. Striker Basit Hamza however got his target in goal after he struggled with the ball to beat Wa Allstars goalkeeper to end the half at parity.

The two sides resumed the game with substitutions and some tactical changes in their set up, but again, Wa Allstars benefited from the exchanges and however could not penetrate the TUFA resolute defense. The Kasalans appeared drained out in the game and were pushed to their own half by the visitors. The blues then capitalized on the failure of Alidu Mohammed Awal to deliver the ball out of danger and lashed on to score through tall and lanky striker Quincy Osei in the 88thminute.

Wa Allstars head coach Mohammed Nuru admitted playing a tactically good side and noted there was a lot he need to improve on his players before the premiership first game on October 7.’My team was presented with a good challenge and I will admit certain areas of my team were exposed by TUFA, which played a good game’ Said Coach Nuru.

Meanwhile the Blues are seeking for a return clash with TUFA before the commencement of the premier league next week.
