Vincent Deyi celebrates TUFA second goal

Tamale Utrecht Football Academy today descended heavily on Upper East United to win 3-0 at the Tamale Sports Stadium, thus avoiding relegation in the second tier of Ghana Football.

The win means they still stay in the division one league and will also participate in the next season MTN FA cup competition where they would have switched their home venue to the Kasalgu complex.

It took just 9 minutes for Tamale Utrecht top marksman Jafaru A. Somed to unleash a powerful shot into the open hands of the goalkeeper to give the home team the lead. The visitors failed to find remedy to the incessant pressure that their host mounted on them when Jafaru A. Somed again weaved through their defence men and swung the ball for Vincent Deyi to connect home after 25 minutes of play.

The Kasalans were in devastating form and were always at the goal area of the visitors and however wasted the chances to increase their goal count. Man of the match Jafaru A. Somed was denied a brace, after his second goal was disallowed when he was spotted for a foul on Upper East United defender.

Tamale Utrecht continued their dominance into the second half of the game but lost the steam in midfield as Coach Muniru Aziz reacted quickly to introduce Alidu Yakubu and Alidu Mohammed Awal for Hamdan Yakubu and Alhassan Kalusha respectively to re-galvanise his midfield.

Substitute Alidu Yakubu sealed victory for his side after connecting a pass from Jafaru A Somed on the 76th minute.

The enthusiastic crowd turned into jubilations after Referees Anane Joseph whistled for the end of the game.

‘We played very well in midfield today and the options we had on the bench gave us room to think and fix grey areas in the team’ Coach Muniru Aziz told tufaghanafc.com.
