TUFA launches community life skills program

26 June, 2012

For the past months the Social Department and local organization AfriLEAD have been working on a life skills program which will not only benefit players inside the academy house, but should gain much impact on local footballers within Tamale as a whole. Today the so called SLIP program has been launched at the first and second divisions clubs within Tamale. SLIP stands for Soccer for Life Skills and invests in the professional growth and development of young players.

The program consists of a season long life skills training program and includes enhancing the players’ decision-making, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, self-awareness, empathy and ability to cope with emotions and stress. SLIP will use the excitement of football to transition young players better into adulthood and face the demands it brings.

SLIP comprises four core components, namely group workshops, individual life coaching sessions with professional coaches, community outreach activities and soccer celebrity ambassador’s event.

Deadline for application is 6th of July 2012, the program will kick off in October 2012. Selection interviews are schedules for 13 and 14 July; 20 participants will be selected. Application form can be downloaded here.
