‘WE NEED A WIN TO REMAIN IN THE LEAGUE’–TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
31 May, 2012
Tamale Utrecht Technical director, Jawhari Baba-Duah has intimated that the club need just a win to avoid relegation in the division one league.
His comments come after their closest contender in the drop zone Nandom Black Bulls was declared winners in their aborted match against Yeji Juventus by the disciplinary committee of the GFA.
‘It’s a good ruling for the Nandom side but it is still difficult for them to survive relegation’. Jawhari said. ‘We need just a win in our home match against Upper East United to guarantee our participation in the next division one league.’
‘I was initially looking at a possible play-off in our zone and that could have affected us but was relieved when Berekum Arsenals avoided relegation in the premier league since their demotion would have pushed the 6th position clubs in the sub-zones to engage in a play-off.’
‘The mathematics is that, should we win against Upper East United and in the event that Black Bulls beat Guan United, then we would have moved to 14, Upper East 13 and Black Bulls 13.’
‘Guaranteed that we are losing at Yeji in the last match, and Upper East slip against Black Bulls at Bolga, then it will mean that they join Bongo United to relegation. However, a slip by Black Bulls will also have confirmed their exit.’
‘In a drawn game between Upper East and Black Bulls then Tamale Utrecht, Upper East United and Black Bulls will level on 14 points and head to head will have been used to declare the losers.
‘Tamale Utrecht has a better head to head result against Black Bulls and for that matter will be safe.’
‘Our destiny now lies in our hands to win against Upper East United when the league resumes.’ Jawhari concluded.
