21 May, 2012

Contractors working on the Tamale Utrecht Football Academy complex are doubling efforts to meet facility requirements of the academy to enable an official opening on Monday, May 28, 2012.

A deputy manager of the construction firm Debabs Investment Limited, Mr Sulemana Ahmed confirmed to tufaghanafc.com that the project was behind schedule but was optimistic that all the facilities but the restaurant and the cooking areas would be ready before next week commissioning.

‘Works on the classroom block, the hostel and the manager’s residence are all completed and we are completing works on the dressing rooms by close of the week’ Mr. Ahmed said.

‘The restaurant is our main challenge and that obviously will not meet the May 28 date. We shall however deliver on all uncompleted works after the commissioning as per the provisions in the contract’ He said.

Meanwhile works on the football field was almost complete and could be ready for use by the opening day. The grassing of the second field will however wait after the opening.

The first batch of 25 players will report in the house on Saturday May, 26, 2012 ahead of the formal opening.
