KARIM STAR REJECTS RFA APPOINTMENT

25 April, 2012

Mr Karim Mahama Starboy has rejected an appointment from the Regional football Association as a member of the safety and security committee.

The immediate vice chairman of the regional association who lost out in the last RFA elections indicated in his letter to the RFA and copied to tufaghanafc.com, that the current RFA chairman, made unsavoury comments against his person in the run up to the regional elections.

Mr. Star alleged that he was attacked for not being a native from the region and was therefore not qualified to contest Alhaji Adam Munkaila.

He further alleged the use of partisan politics and chieftaincy against him to unmake his popularity by his contestant and that thugs were arranged against delegates perceived to be his sympathisers.

He preached the fundamental concept of football that does not have any language and boundary and that players can play for any team or country of their choice, and should therefore not have been treated that way in the spirit of football during the elections.

It is however not clear whether the RFA will replace Mr. Karim Mahama on the committee that includes Mr. Jawhari Baba-Duah, Mr. SI Adams and a representative of the Ghana Police Service.
