RTU MAKES IT DOUBLE OVER GUAN UNITED, NANDOM MATCH ABONDONED
15 April, 2012
Real Tamale United on Saturday repeated a 1-0 defeat inflicted on Guan United in the first round making it double over their local rivals this season.
RTU scored in the second half after a scoreless first half through returnee Abdul Aziz Yussif. The goal was as result of a missed kick by Hassan Mohammed in the penalty area that fell on the foot of the nimble attacker to hit the ball into the yawing net for the only goal of the match.
However, the match at Nandom between Black Bulls and visiting Juventus was abandoned after referee A.A. Alhassan of Tamale awarded a penalty to the home side in injury time when the score was 1 goal apiece. Juventus was alleged to have protested against the decision and subsequently refused to continue play.
In the other matches Bazooka FC continued their worst performance at home when they drew with Upper East United in Wa whilst Tamale Utrecht rested for the week fixtures following the withdrawal of Bongo United.
