TAMALE UTRECHT EXITS IN MTN FA CUP WITH CHEST HIGH

21 January, 2012

Tamale Utrecht FC on Friday failed to advance to the round of 32 in the MTN FA cup competition when they lost 1-0 to Danbort FC in Accra though outclassing their opponents.

A 10thminute goal in the first half was enough for the Nungua warriors to seal victory though conceding after the match that they were lucky to have run away with victory.

The match which was witnessed by a packed crowd including some technical handlers of the national teams produced exciting exchanges as TUFC made earlier incursions into the defence of Danbort FC.

However the host quickly organised their set up and had a free kick close to the TUFC goal area that caught goal keeper Mubarik Jebdon off guard to allow the resulting header into goal.

TUFC fought back strongly forcing their host into their half but failed to score from the numerous chances that came their way.

The series of missed chances started when right back Issahaku A. Kadiri failed to shoot at goal after dismissing a Danbort defender in the penalty area. This was followed by Iddirisu Osman thunder bolt in the penalty area that flew over the cross bar with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Man of the match Jafaru A. Somed followed next with two missed chances after both kicks at the edge of the penalty area got off the goal post narrowly.

Alhassan Kalusha probably could have brought about the change in the game after his colleagues failed to plant the ball into the net but his left footed kick in the penalty area also missed the goal post narrowly with the goal keeper beaten.

TUFC will stay in Accra for their next game in a friendly against the Black starlets on Sunday morning at Prampram to shape up for the division one league that starts on Sunday.
