RTU on the brink of relegation

24th of April, 2011

The pride of the North, Real Tamale United has been struggling to stay in the Ghana top flight division, the premier league in the on-going 2010/2011 premier league. RTU is one of the only  two clubs  from Northern Ghana participating in the 16-club premier league is occupying 15th on the leagues table with just 26 points from 25 matches.

With only 5 matches left to end the 2010/2011 premier league RTU will need to gain maximum points from its 3 home matches whilst hoping for a miracle over its away encounters including a crucial challenge against league leaders Berekum Chelsea.

Coach of  RTU, Mohammed Gargo speaking to tufaghanafc.com indicated that the clubs failure to convert its numerous chances into goals has been the main reason why it still finds itself in the relegation zone but remain quite optimistic that the club will make amends in its subsequent matches to ensure its survival in the Ghanaian premier league.

RTU has for the past 5 seasons struggled to the end of the league to avoid relegation. There are concerns over the recruitment system of players into the club and ill-preseason preparation that has always culminated into the abysmal performances of the club over the years.

Gargo Mohammed who played for the club in the early 90s and a member of the world cup winning team at the FIFA U-17 in 1991 is expected to overturn the drowning image of the pride of the North in the Ghanaian premier league.

Gargo who was an assistant to Turkish Coach Talat Uzum was put in charge of the team after the Turk was sacked for poor performance in the part of the league. But the ex-international is yet to make any impact on the fortunes of the club.
