TUFA STRETCHES SCOUTING EXERCISE FOR U-12

1 January, 2012

The scouting teams for Tamale Utrecht Football Academy were at the Upper West and Upper East Regions during the Christmas holidays to continue a scouting exercise for players less than 12 years old for enrolment into the academy in May 2011.

In the Upper West region over 100 players turned out for the event that was arranged by the Juvenile association of the region at the Wa sports stadium on Saturday.

The players exhibited tremendous soccer talents in the competition to the admiration of handful of supporters who thronged the venue to watch the future stars.

15 players were successful in the screening exercise and would be expected to join other colleagues for a final screening exercise later to be announced by the academy.

The Upper East exercise was held between December 25 – December 29 at the Bolgatanga Park and it gave opportunity to many young soccer talents in the region to exhibit their technique on or without the ball for selection to the next phase of the scouting exercise.

The last event for the academy for the year was a stopover at Bimbilla where the team monitored the zonal U-12 competition and was satisfied with the level of grasssroot football outside the regional capitals. Players that were also selected at the Bimbilla event would also be informed later of the next phase of the exercise.

Meanwhile the scouting team is still also monitoring the Tamale juvenile league for the U-12 and the U-14 competitions.

Technical Director, Jawhari Baba-Duah hinted that the scouting team is ready to visit such other communities with colts clubs to organise similar competitions for their players to be monitored for possible selection to the final screening exercise later this year.
