It was a moment of joy full of ecstasy after Tamale Utrecht goalkeeper Sulemana Firdaus scored last from penalty-out to crown TUFC, regional division two champions in a gruelling and highly uncompromising final played at the Tamale Kaladan Park today.

TUFC were 5-4 winners on penalty shoot-out over Dynamos FC in a game that failed to produce any goals within regulation time. The final was a repeat of TUFC yesterday’s semi-final against Liberty Babies that also ended in 5-4 penalty shoot out in TUFC win.

Jafaru A. Somed, Yussif A. Bassit, Adam Ibrahim, Muniru A. Aziz and Sulemana Firdaus all scored for TUFC in that sequence to turn the stadium into wild and frenzy jubilation.

TUFC had absolute control over their rivals and played a scintillating game that could not however break the solid defence team of Dynamos. Dynamos were very solid in defence hoping to take on their counterparts on the break but were well checked by TUFC Captian Muniru A. Aziz and his men at the back line.

Striker Jafaru Somed was denied a penalty in the first half after he was brought down by a Dynamos defender. TUFC were also denied a goal scored by Iddrisu Osman after he was ruled offside by assistant line 2 before the first half break.

In the second half Struggling Midfielder Alhassan Kalusha was replaced by Nana Ackon whilst injured Mohammed Kassim was substituted for Adam Ibrahim at the left back.

TUFC goalkeeper Sulemana Firdaus was the hero of day after saving the first kick from Dynamos FC in the penalty shoot out and scoring last to secure his team qualification to the national division one league.

In a post match interview Technical Director Jawhari Baba-Duah showered commendation on the technical and playing body for their high spirit that had defied all odds in the division two league to claim the championship in their first year. He added that the team would be strengthened to compete favourably in the Division One.
