AMATEUR CLUBS OPEN PAGE TO ESTABLISH REGIONAL CLUBS ASSOCIATION

18th October, 2011.

Amateur clubs mostly division two sides in the Northern Region today met at the Tamale Kaladan Park to deliberate on the formation of a Regional Amateur and Juvenile Soccer club owners association.

The meeting which was convened by Jawhari Baba-Duah and Mohammed Alhassan of Tamale Utrecht FC and Dynamos FC respectively was attended by club representatives including Mr. Karim Star boy, a former vice chairman of the Regional Football Association.

The meeting discussed the need for clubs to come under an umbrella to fight for their interest and champion the development of football in the region.

The group considered the organization of courses and seminars on the laws of the game, the statutes and regulations of the Ghana Football Association to broaden the knowledge of members. They also considered a separate club competition such as a top-4 or top-8 competitions after every league season and was hopeful of securing sponsorships for such events.

Concerns were raised over the poor organization of the regional league competition and that the institutionalization of this group would help address such problems and allow the league to run smoothly without any organizational problems.

‘development of our game in the north should be our goal and clubs should concentrate in developing the players and play as many matches as possible and not rely so much on winning matches by intimidation.’ Mohammed Alala Sylla remarked.

The clubs agreed to the formation of the association and set to hold its next general meeting to elect the first executive of the association next week.
