WASSAMAN VENUE CONFIRMATION DASHES RTU TAKEOVER HOPES

14th September, 2011.

The purported takeover of premiership debutants, Wassaman United by RTU seemed to be a journey of futility as the Premier League Board (PLB) has confirmed the Sekondi Essipong stadium as venue for the newly promoted club denting the hopes of football fans seeing Wassaman play in Tamale in the 2011/2012 premier league.

It appears difficult now to contend with the takeover bid following a PLB directive that Premier League clubs would not be granted the choice of switching match venues after the opening day matches of the 2011/12 league season.

Information reaching tufaghanafc.com indicates that Wassaman United has also appointed Kurt Okraku a former administrator of the Ghana League Clubs Association as its General Manager and is currently on a pre-season training in Accra without any involvement of RTU official.

The Wassaman club has also been granted a five day extension by the PLB to conclude registration of their players due to their late qualification to the premier league following a protest lodged against them in the Division one Play-off.

In a related development, a board Member of RTU Alhaji Adam Munkaila speaking to tufaghanafc.com confirmed that no deal has been reached for a takeover of Wassaman United.

The 2011/2012 Glo Ghana premier league is scheduled to kick-off on October 9, 2011.
