In short

The Tamale Utrecht Football Academy is located in Tamale, Northern Ghana. TUFA is a joint initiative by Frans van Seumeren and Abdulai Alhassan. Abdulai Alhassan comes from Northern Ghana and has played football in the Netherlands and Belgium. Frans van Seumeren is a largeshareholder in the FC Utrecht and supports social projects both within and outside of the Netherlands.

TUFA is not a part of FC Utrecht although FC Utrecht’s clothing, materials and expertise are all used.

Objective: social en athletic development

TUFA provides young people from northern Ghana with a better future, through football and education. Players reside at the academy and attend football training as well as Junior High School, and go through an intensive life skills program in addition.

TUFA’s policy is to concentrate on further development of football talent, but also to offer players who are not talented enough a chance to an alternative career. The life skills program is part of this as well as specific career paths in due course, such as further education and micro credit.

TUFA does not only focus on the players of the football academy, but also on football clubs within the community. TUFA players are employed as role models for these social projects.
